Job Description

Capital One is seeking a highly skilled Director of Software Engineering to lead our Cyber Data Protection organization. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for delivering cryptographic services to the enterprise and driving engineering excellence.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead a team of software engineers and subject matter experts to deliver cryptographic key and certificate management solutions.
  • Work with internal product teams to create a compelling vision for the Crypto Services program and build roadmaps.
  • Interface with internal customers and stakeholders to design, develop, test, implement, and support technical solutions for complex use cases.
  • Lead complex vendor relationships and ensure well-managed integration of vendor platforms into our broader Capital One ecosystem.
  • Create and implement processes to drive well-managed delivery, focusing on principles of engineering excellence and operational maturity.
  • Manage risk proactively and effectively, leveraging enterprise risk management processes.
  • Coach and mentor engineers through their career development and performance.
Requirements
  • At least 7 years of experience in Cyber Security.
  • At least 5 years of experience in Software Development.
  • At least 5 years of people leadership experience.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Computer Science or a related field.
  • 10+ years of professional experience coding.
  • 10+ years of professional experience in the full lifecycle of system development, from conception through architecture, implementation, testing, deployment, and production support.
  • 3+ years of experience in managing cryptographic services.
  • 3+ years of experience with public cloud technologies.

This role is eligible to earn performance-based incentive compensation, which may include cash bonus(es) and/or long-term incentives (LTI). Incentives could be discretionary or non-discretionary depending on the plan.
