POSITION SUMMARY

The Service Technician operates as a proficient technician capable of diagnosing and repairing a wide range of automotive issues. This role requires expertise in various repair areas, along with a background as a B Class general service technician.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES include, but are not limited to:

  • Executing repairs as detailed in the work order with precision and in alignment with dealership and manufacturer standards.
  • Identifying the root cause of malfunctions and performing necessary repairs.
  • Coordinating with the parts department to procure required components.
  • Tagging and preserving parts for warranty claims or customer requests.
  • Inspecting assigned vehicles to ascertain if additional safety or service work is warranted.
  • Communicating with the service advisor promptly regarding any additional work needed or if repairs cannot be completed as scheduled.
  • Documenting all performed work and recommendations on the repair order.
  • Conducting road tests on vehicles when necessary or referring to the designated test technician.
  • Engaging in manufacturer-sponsored training programs and events.
  • Staying updated on manufacturer technical bulletins.
  • Overseeing the work of apprentice technicians as assigned.
  • Reporting any equipment defects or malfunctions to the supervisor.
  • Ensuring that customer vehicles are maintained in a clean condition and notifying the service advisor of any changes to the vehicle's appearance.
  • Maintaining a tidy and organized work area.
  • Being responsible for all dealership-owned tools and manuals, ensuring they are returned in their original condition.
  • Understanding and adhering to federal, state, and local regulations, including hazardous waste disposal and safety protocols.
  • Utilizing all tools and equipment safely.
  • Reporting any safety concerns to management immediately.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

A minimum of two to four years of relevant experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Proficient in writing reports, business correspondence, and procedural manuals. Capable of effectively presenting information and responding to inquiries from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Competence in applying basic algebra and geometry concepts.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to define problems, gather data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Proficient in interpreting a wide range of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and managing several abstract and concrete variables.
