Position Overview: This contractor role is based in North America, with initial project phases potentially located at engineering service provider offices.

Key Responsibilities: You will oversee the daily leadership, management, and strategic direction of both the evaluation and execution phases of significant mining and metallurgical process facilities projects. Reporting directly to the VP of Engineering and Construction, your responsibilities encompass all facets of project execution, including:

  • Safety: Ensuring jobsite health and safety protocols are adhered to.
  • Quality: Maintaining high standards throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Engineering: Overseeing technical specifications and design.
  • Procurement: Managing the acquisition of necessary materials and services.
  • Construction: Directing construction activities and managing site operations.
  • Planning: Developing comprehensive project plans and schedules.
  • Coordination: Facilitating communication among various stakeholders.
  • Commissioning: Ensuring systems are operational before hand-off to site operations.

Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related discipline, or equivalent training and experience, along with a minimum of twenty (20) years in construction and construction management.
  • Alternatively, a High School diploma or GED with at least twenty-five (25) years of progressive experience in the same fields.
  • In-depth knowledge of project management principles, engineering practices, project controls, contract administration, procurement, and materials management.
  • Demonstrated experience managing mining, heavy industrial, and capital projects valued over $500 million.
  • Willingness to travel frequently and undertake international assignments.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) in a business context.
  • Experience with mega projects exceeding US$ 1.0 billion, particularly in large mineral processing.
  • Preferred background in EPCM with experience in both design office and field management.
  • Expertise in heavy industrial construction project management.
  • Familiarity with Lean Construction methodologies.
