About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Site Safety and Health Officer to join our team at Chenega Corporation. As a key member of our organization, you will be responsible for ensuring the health and safety of our employees, contractors, and visitors on our sites.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement effective health and safety programs and policies to mitigate risks and ensure compliance with relevant regulations.
  • Conduct regular site inspections and audits to identify potential hazards and implement corrective actions.
  • Provide training and guidance to employees and contractors on health and safety procedures and protocols.
  • Investigate incidents and near-misses, and develop and implement corrective actions to prevent reoccurrence.
  • Maintain accurate records and reports on health and safety performance, including incident reports, safety inspections, and training records.
  • Collaborate with management and other stakeholders to develop and implement health and safety policies and procedures.
  • Stay up-to-date with relevant health and safety regulations and standards, and ensure compliance with all applicable laws and regulations.
Requirements
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in a health and safety role, preferably in the construction industry.
  • Completed a 30-hour OSHA construction safety class or equivalent within the last 5 years.
  • Completed a 40-hour Construction Safety Hazard Awareness Course based on the content and principles of EM, and instructed in accordance with the guidelines of ASSP by a qualified trainer.
  • Possesses an average of at least 24 hours of formal safety training each year for the past 5 years with training for competent person status in at least Four (4) of the following competencies: excavation; scaffolding; fall protection; hazardous energy; confined space; health hazard recognition, evaluation and control of chemical, physical and biological agents; personal protective equipment and clothing to include selection, use and maintenance.
  • Possesses Construction Health & Safety Technician (CHST) certification.
  • Familiarity with the requirements of USACE EM, and experience in the areas of hazard identification, safety compliance and sustainability.
  • Current Basic First Aid/CPR/AED training.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Thorough knowledge of current OSHA and EM standards.
  • Skills in operating a personal computer and standard office equipment.
  • Knowledge of a variety of computer software applications in word processing, spreadsheets, database, (MSWord, Excel, Access, PowerPoint), and Outlook.
  • Ability to write clearly and informatively; edit work for spelling and grammar; vary writing style to meet needs; present numerical data effectively; able to read and interpret written information.
