We are launching our inaugural transitional housing and reentry initiative, The Fulton Community Reentry Center (Fulton). This facility will offer 140 beds of transitional housing for men recently released from incarceration who face homelessness. In addition, Fulton will provide comprehensive onsite reentry services, including case management, benefits enrollment, employment assistance, health services, and substance use disorder treatment. The center operates year-round, 24/7, including evenings and weekends, with some roles requiring non-traditional hours.
We are looking to fill 26 full-time positions for Customer Care Workers/Security. This role is crucial for maintaining the safety and security of clients, staff, visitors, and property within the facility. The position reports to the Security Manager and the Shift Supervisor in their absence.
Compensation: $24.19 per hour
Key Responsibilities:- Manage access at the main entrance by screening all clients and visitors.
- De-escalate crisis situations and document interventions performed.
- Respond to incidents and emergencies as they arise.
- Complete logs, incident reports, and necessary documentation.
- Contact emergency services as directed.
- Perform administrative and receptionist duties at the operations desk.
- Monitor video surveillance and fire alarm systems.
- Ensure the safety and security of all equipment and individuals.
- Support the welfare and safety of shelter residents, staff, and volunteers.
- Provide crisis prevention and intervention as needed.
- Conduct routine checks of residents and the facility to identify potential hazards.
- Document incidents and residents' concerns accurately.
- Assist with fire drills and ensure compliance with safety procedures.
- Engage with local emergency services and know when to initiate emergency calls.
- Promote a positive and harmonious environment within the facility.
- Conduct searches of residents, staff, visitors, and common areas as required.
- Be willing to undergo training in Safe Crisis Management (SCM).
- Adapt to flexible shifts, including weekends and overtime as necessary.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
- High school diploma or equivalent; or two years of relevant experience in lieu of education.
- Possession of a NYS Security Guard License and current 8-hour annual Certificate.
- F02 FDNY Fire Guard License is required.
- At least two years of experience in a residential facility, preferably with dual-diagnosed individuals or those with mental health and substance abuse challenges.
- Ability to ascend 120 standard stairs within 2 minutes.
- Strong interpersonal skills with effective written and verbal communication.
- Familiarity with community resources.
- Capacity to make sound decisions and resolve conflicts.
- Ability to remain calm in crisis situations and manage multiple tasks under pressure.
- Collaborative work style with diverse groups.
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and efficiency.
- Basic computer skills for incident report documentation.
