Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Emergency Department Technician to join our team at Riverside Healthcare. As a key member of our medical team, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and support to our patients and families.

Responsibilities
  • Assist with patient care under the direction of the Registered Nurse and Emergency Department physician.
  • Perform clerical and receptionist duties, including answering patient call lights, answering telephones, and directing appropriately.
  • Participate in Performance Improvement Activities, including point of care testing QI, and maintain proficiency in all point of care testing.
  • Prepare patients for RN/physician assessment by obtaining vital signs, assisting patients into gowns, performing pulse ox, orthostatics, etc.
  • Prep and transport instruments to sterile processing daily, stock rooms during each shift, and record all pertinent patient information into the computer system.
  • Respond to emergency codes, set up suture/procedure trays, wound cleansing/irrigation, removal of simple sutures, and splint/immobilizers/crutch training.
  • Transport patients without cardiac monitors to x-ray, nursing units via assisted ambulation cart and/or wheelchair, and utilize safety restraints appropriately.
  • Administer nebulizer treatments when ordered, if licensed as an EMT.
Requirements
  • BLS certification required and kept current.
  • Qualify in one of the following: certified as a CNA, CMA, or current certification as EMT-B.
  • 1 year of experience as a CNA or EMT-B.
Work Environment

This position requires working in a fast-paced emergency department environment, with exposure to chemicals, blood and body fluids, and TB or airborne pathogens. The employee must be able to lift patients off their beds and transport them using assistive lifting equipment. The employee must also be able to carry charts, laundry bags, and fire extinguishers, and be able to work in a variety of lighting and temperature conditions.
