At Blue Origin, we're pushing the boundaries of space exploration and development. As a key member of our Space Systems Development (SSD) team, you'll play a critical role in designing and developing cutting-edge avionics communications subsystems for our LEO missions.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design and develop RF architectures for our avionics communications subsystems, including S band, Ka band, X band, UHF, and laser communication systems.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to select and integrate key components, such as antennas, solid-state power amplifiers, and traveling wave tube amplifiers.
  • Conduct simulations and analysis to inform critical technical decisions and ensure the reliability and robustness of our communication systems.
  • Support the team through technical trade studies and design engineering activities, including radio compatibility, EMI/EMC, radiation, and vibe/shock testing.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in communication systems or RF testing.
  • Working knowledge of major RF components, including SSPAs, LNAs, transceivers, waveguides, antennas, filters, and more.
  • Experience with high-fidelity link budgets using Excel, MATLAB, STK, or other software.
  • Familiarity with space-rated communication hardware and software integration.
  • Familiarity with industry standards, such as DVB-S2, CCSDS, RS-422, Spacewire, I2C, and more.
  • Proficiency in software tools like HFSS and STK for RF simulations and line-of-sight analysis.
Desired Qualifications:
  • 8+ years of experience in satellite communication systems.
  • Working knowledge of simulation software like HFSS for antenna placement studies, antenna pattern simulations, ray tracing simulations, and other RF studies.
  • Experience with space environments and the process to space qualify a communication flight unit.

We offer a competitive compensation package, including a range of $117,727.50-$164,818.50 for CO applicants and $128,430.00-$179,802.00 for WA applicants. Other site ranges may differ. Applications will be accepted on an ongoing basis until the requisition is closed.

Paid Time Off: Up to four (4) weeks per year based on weekly scheduled hours, and up to 14 company-paid holidays.
