DMC Sinai-Grace Hospital is the largest facility within the DMC network, providing a wide array of services including a comprehensive heart center, cancer treatment, geriatric care, emergency services, obstetrics/gynecology, and cosmetic procedures. The hospital's joint replacement program is renowned for its innovative minimally invasive knee and hip surgeries, attracting patients nationwide. Sinai-Grace operates over 21 outpatient care locations and ambulatory surgery centers across Wayne and Oakland Counties and is one of only 10 hospitals in the U.S. to receive a Robert Wood Johnson Foundation grant aimed at establishing national standards for cardiac care.
Position Summary:
The Registered Nurse (RN) at the Detroit Medical Center (DMC) is an integral member of the Patient Care Services Team, responsible for ensuring the effective delivery of nursing care by the nursing staff. The RN oversees and administers patient care activities for a designated group of patients and their families, utilizing independent judgment, effective communication, and collaboration with all team members, including ancillary and support services. The role of the RN encompasses leadership, partnership, collaboration, education, and supervision.
Key Responsibilities:
• Foster and maintain collaborative relationships with physicians and other healthcare professionals.
• Delegate, assess, provide, and evaluate patient care.
• Assign and oversee patient care tasks performed by team members.
• Monitor patient progress and prepare patients for discharge.
• Report directly to senior unit management and engage in shared decision-making processes.
Qualifications:
Minimum Requirements:
1. Graduation from an accredited nursing program is required.
2. Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) is preferred.
3. Current licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the state of Michigan is required.
4. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association (AHA) is required.
