About the Role

We are seeking highly skilled Software Engineers to join our Tactical Space Systems Division team at Northrop Grumman. As a Software Engineer, you will be responsible for leading software development teams, ensuring alignment with project goals and industry best practices.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide hands-on technical leadership and guidance to software development teams.
  • Foster collaboration between software development teams and other departments, including UX/UI design, QA, and DevOps.
  • Collaborate with product owners to prioritize features and deliverables.
  • Develop client and server applications and services using service or object-oriented architectures, message bus-based data exchange.
  • Develop software products using languages such as Python, C++, and Postgres.
  • Support Operations ground software and associated configurations.
  • Support Acceptance Test events, including running tests.
  • Configure ground segment software.
  • Resolution and remediation of software defects.
  • Software Enhancements as directed by customer change requests or mission needs.
  • Ground software support during launch and launch rehearsal events.
  • Support the installation of new ground segment software in operational, development, and test environments.
Requirements
  • A Bachelors degree in a STEM field with 9 years of experience, a Masters with 7 years of experience, or a PhD with 4 years of experience.
  • Demonstrated software development experience.
  • Experience leading team of 5-10 software engineers.
  • Linux, Python, C++, Bash Scripting experience.
  • Demonstrated experience in technical problem solving, to include decomposition, root cause analysis, solution development, implementation, and monitoring.
  • Significant experience with designing, building, and deploying of software products.
  • Experience in producing software architecture documentation.
  • DoD Top Secret clearance with SCI eligibility.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with Cybersecurity considerations.
  • Experience in software build automation, continuous integration, configuration management, verification, and deployment.
  • Experience developing satellite ground software with any of the following applications for spacecraft missions is highly preferred: Command and Control, Mission Planning, Visualization, and/or Astrodynamics.
  • Familiarity with user experience (UX) and user interface (UI) design principles.
  • Experienced with Atlassian tools (JIRA, Confluence, Bitbucket).
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
