Position Overview:
This role is part of the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), which offers student loan repayment options.

Eligibility requirements must be met according to VHA policy, and applications must be submitted within a specified timeframe after appointment.

Approval of the program, award amounts (up to $200,000), and eligibility periods (ranging from one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after a thorough review of the EDRP application.

Compensation and Benefits:

Role Responsibilities:
The Mammography Radiologist will collaborate with the Mammography supervisor to prepare for the facility's three-year American College of Radiology (ACR) Accreditation and annual FDA/MQSA inspections, which includes necessary documentation and corrective action plans.

Assist in the implementation of mammography Quality Assurance (QA) and Quality Improvement (QI) initiatives, adhering to technical and professional guidelines and standards.

Ensure that the quality assurance program meets required standards, including personnel assignments, equipment quality control tests, records, corrective actions, annual physicist's surveys, and medical audits.

Engage in the development of mammography imaging policies, procedures, best practices, and protocols while maintaining connections with professional organizations and provider groups.

Quality and Safety Oversight:
Review exam requests for appropriateness, prescribe and modify exam protocols as needed, and provide oversight of technical image quality.

Oversee medication administration relevant to the Imaging Service and ensure adherence to radiation and MRI safety protocols.

Image Interpretation and Patient Consultation:
Interpret all breast imaging exams, generate detailed reports, and perform image-guided breast biopsies. Consult with patients regarding results and recommend further testing as necessary.

Engage in patient care by obtaining relevant clinical history, providing education, and ensuring informed consent is documented.

Coordination of Patient Care:
Collaborate with clinical providers to ensure effective patient management and timely notification of significant results.Integration of Resources:
Consult with colleagues and engage in continuous education to provide optimal patient care.Medical Staff Engagement:
Participate in medical staff meetings and committee assignments to ensure compliance and effective operations.Educational Support:
Contribute to academic affiliations by providing clinical experience and supporting teaching programs within the Imaging Service.Work Schedule:
This is a full-time position with a standard schedule of 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday through Friday.Qualifications:
Applicants must be U.S. citizens, with a degree in medicine or osteopathic medicine from an accredited institution. Candidates must have completed residency training in an accredited core specialty program and possess proficiency in English.

Additional requirements include formal training in Radiology and board certification or eligibility. Preferred experience includes at least two years in general radiology, with specialization in diagnostic and screening mammography.

Physical Requirements:
Ability to perform light lifting and carrying, maintain emotional and mental stability, and work closely with others.
