Job Title: Nurse Manager - Voluntary Psychiatric Unit

UW Medical Center-Northwest has an exciting opportunity for a Nurse Manager to lead our brand-new Voluntary Psychiatric Unit, opening in spring 2025.

Job Summary:

The Nurse Manager will oversee the day-to-day operations of the Voluntary Psychiatric Unit, ensuring high-quality patient care and a collaborative, patient-centered approach. This role will work closely with the Assistant Administrator for Behavioral Health Services and will be responsible for hiring and developing a team of RNs, CNAs, and Behavioral Health Technicians.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage all day-to-day and operational functions of the Voluntary Psychiatric Unit
  • Oversee a team of 30+ Registered Nurses, Certified Nursing Assistants, and Behavioral Health Technicians
  • Collaborate directly with the Behavioral Health Assistant Administrator regarding access, referrals, volume development, department flow, and productivity
  • Ensure evidence-based practice is integrated into department operations
  • Ensure adherence to Compliance Program policies, procedures, and standards of conduct
  • Ensure that documentation meets current standards and policies and is completed for each visit by clinical staff
  • Ensure that the unit meets regulatory standards (e.g. JCAHO, DOH), including environment of care standards and infection control
  • Monitor customer service initiatives to better meet needs of patients
  • Interviews and hires new staff
  • Completes regular performance evaluations for each staff member
  • Counsels employees, develops staff, and utilizes the disciplinary process when appropriate
  • Provides leadership in accordance with organizational goals and objectives
Requirements:
  • Current licensure to practice as a Registered Nurse in Washington State
  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing
  • At least 4 years of nursing management experience
  • Direct nursing experience and clinical leadership experience in a behavioral health setting
  • Knowledge of The Joint Commission, DOH and other regulatory agency standards
