Job Title: Medical Director - Addiction Medicine

Job Summary:

The Opioid Treatment Program (OTP) Medical Director is responsible for administering all medical services performed by the program. This includes delegating specific responsibilities to authorized program physicians and healthcare professionals under their supervision.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Monitor patient charts for quality of medical services provided and develop or revise medical and other treatment intervention policies and procedures.
  • Maintain a patient panel and provide recommendations to the MSO regarding changes in medical practice when advisable.
  • Work closely with agency medical providers and site managers to ensure the delivery of coordinated services to patients.
  • Interact with the local medical provider community on issues of continuity of care and education about this treatment modality.
  • Consultation via telephone or videoconference as needed.
  • Maintain regular communication with the MSO and attend meetings as requested.
  • Familiar with standards required by Board of Health, OSHA, etc., and the application of such.
  • Participate in Federal and State substance abuse training and continuing education as needed.
  • Interact with all staff in a positive and motivational fashion, supporting the company's mission and Best Practice Patient Experience.
  • Provide direct supervision to clinical personnel and relay corporate mandates, goals, and objectives.
  • Oversee all medical care provided within the clinic.
  • Oversee the Dispensary Manager functions and ensure the safety, security, and accountability of methadone and other scheduled medications in the clinic.
  • Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.

Requirements:

  • MD or DO degree and an active physician license in the State of Washington.
  • Certification by the American Society of Addiction Medicine or the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology is preferred.
  • At least one year of addiction medicine experience.
  • Methadone experience required.
  • Opioid Treatment Program experience will be given hiring preference.
  • Knowledge of the patient population and the properties and side effects of opiate replacement medications and other drugs the patients may use.
  • No history of alcohol or other drug misuse for a period of 3 years prior to employment as the Medical Director and does not display evidence of alcohol or other drugs while employed as the OTP Medical Director.
