Job Summary

Mercyhealth is seeking a highly skilled Pharmacy Technician to join our team in Janesville, WI. As a Pharmacy Technician, you will play a critical role in preparing and distributing medications, ensuring the highest level of patient care and safety.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare and package medications, including oral and intravenous medications, for delivery to automated medication dispensing systems and designated medication areas.
  • Retrieve, count, measure, and compound drugs, sterile and non-sterile, under the direction of the Pharmacist using barcode technology.
  • Deliver medications and supplies safely and accurately to the nursing unit, stock area, and/or automated dispensing cabinet.
  • Assist in inventory control of drug supplies and solutions for the pharmacy department.
  • Perform inventory checks to ensure stock levels are maintained and expired items are removed.
  • Prepare non-chemotherapy sterile admixtures, including dialysate, epidural, TPN, and investigational IV drugs.
  • Place IV orders with wholesalers and process receipt and stocking of medications.
  • Clean equipment and sterilize glassware according to prescribed methods.
  • Triaging phone calls and taking detailed messages, as well as intra-departmental communication.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Graduate from Pharmacy Technician Program preferred.
  • Pharmacy Technician Licensure required.
  • Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) or Certification through NHA required.
Working Conditions

The Pharmacy Technician will work in a fast-paced hospital setting, requiring the ability to stand for long periods, walk, and use fine motor skills. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds.
