About the Role

MidAmerica Nazarene University is seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Evening Custodian to join our campus maintenance team. As an Evening Custodian, you will be responsible for ensuring the cleanliness and organization of our campus facilities, including restrooms, common areas, and hallways.

Key Responsibilities
  • Cleaning and Sanitizing: Clean and sanitize restrooms, bathrooms, and other high-touch areas using established practices and procedures.
  • Restroom Maintenance: Refill restroom dispensers, anticipate usage to prevent empty dispensers during normal occupancy hours, and ensure restrooms are well-stocked with paper products and soap.
  • Floor Care: Vacuum carpets, area rugs, and walk-off mats, sweep, mop, or vacuum floors to maintain a clean and safe environment.
  • Waste Management: Empty and clean interior and exterior wastebaskets and trash containers, and replace liners as needed.
  • Equipment Maintenance: Clean and sanitize exercise equipment and other campus facilities as needed.
  • Setup and Breakdown: Assist with setting up facilities for meetings, classrooms, conferences, and events by keeping all areas clean and ready for use.
  • Safety and Security: Use ladders or step stools safely, follow specified procedures for cleaning assigned building areas, and report any unauthorized occupants or security concerns.
  • Communication: Interact with faculty, staff, and students in a courteous manner, and communicate effectively with the Custodial Supervisor on a daily basis.
Requirements
  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent work experience.
  • Experience: Preference for at least one year of experience in general cleaning and janitorial services/housekeeping practices.
  • Skills: Ability to lift at least 50 pounds, work within an industry that may face dust, dirt, cleaning solutions, or other common materials, and communicate effectively with others.

MidAmerica Nazarene University is an intentionally Christian community that values its employees and offers a competitive compensation package, including a salary range of $25,000 - $35,000 per year, depending on experience.
