We are seeking a skilled Medical Specialist to join our team at Guardian Life. As a Medical Specialist, you will play a critical role in facilitating timely claim decisions by leveraging your medical knowledge to obtain necessary information and collaborating with claims case managers and claimants.
Key Responsibilities- Review information in files, obtain medical information needed, and acquire certification of disability and limitations from treating physicians.
- Assist with vendor management, including scheduling and following up on vendor reports.
- Document clear and concise details regarding certification dates, treatment plans, and other pertinent claim information.
- Collaborate with claims case managers and claimants to facilitate timely physician outreaches and collection of medical information.
- Remain flexible to changing business needs and assist the team where needed to meet the needs of our customers.
- LPN/LVN from an accredited school of nursing with a valid license in good standing.
- Minimum 2 years of clinical experience or equivalent medical office experience.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to exercise independent and sound judgment in decision making.
- Vendor management experience and ability to work collaboratively with vendors.
- Excellent time management and organizational skills, with the ability to multitask and prioritize work based on customer service needs and departmental regulations.
- Self-motivated and able to work independently, with the ability to work collaboratively with multiple professional disciplines and diverse populations.
- Current medical knowledge of medical conditions and treatment, maintained via continuing education.
- Basic computer skills and knowledge, including Microsoft Office.
- A competitive salary range of $48,000 to $72,280.00.
