About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Culinary Specialist to join our team at Rush University Medical Center. As a key member of our food production team, you will be responsible for preparing and cooking a variety of menu items for patients, staff, and visitors.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare and cook menu items according to production schedules and recipes
  • Ensure food quality and safety standards are met at all times
  • Assist with inventory control and ordering of food and supplies

Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Three years of cooking experience, with two years in cold food preparation and/or Cook's assistant
  • Illinois Department of Public Health and City of Chicago Sanitation Certification required within six months of hire and maintained thereafter
  • Ability to read, write, and speak English
  • Basic math skills and critical thinking abilities
Preferred Qualifications
  • Associate's degree in Culinary Arts or related field
  • Certificate of Completion in Culinary Arts
Physical Demands

The successful candidate will be able to exert 25 pounds of effort to push or pull a cart, lift and carry 50 pounds minimum, and stand or walk for 100% of the workday.
