Workers' Compensation Defense Attorney Job Description

About the Role:

Round Hill Search is seeking a skilled and proactive Workers' Compensation Defense Attorney to join a successful defense firm in Downtown Los Angeles.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide legal representation to employers and insurance companies in workers' compensation cases, including defending against claims for occupational injuries, illnesses, and disabilities.
  • Conduct thorough investigations into the facts and circumstances of each case, gathering evidence, interviewing witnesses, and reviewing medical records.
  • Prepare and file legal documents, including responses to claims, motions, and appeals, with the appropriate administrative agencies and courts.
  • Represent clients in administrative hearings, mediation sessions, and court proceedings, presenting compelling arguments and examining witnesses.
  • Negotiate settlements with claimants and their attorneys to resolve cases efficiently and cost-effectively.
  • Communicate regularly with clients to provide updates on case developments, discuss strategies, and address their concerns.
  • Stay informed about changes in workers' compensation laws and regulations, and apply this knowledge to effectively defend clients.
  • Collaborate with other members of the legal team, including paralegals and support staff, to ensure effective case management and client representation.

Qualifications:

  • Juris Doctor degree and active bar membership in California.
  • Two (2)+ years of experience practicing workers' compensation defense law.
  • Strong litigation skills, including experience representing clients in administrative hearings and court proceedings.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage a caseload effectively.
  • Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Compassionate and empathetic demeanor, with a commitment to providing quality legal representation.
  • Proficiency in legal research and writing.
