Your Role:

The Respiratory Therapist I (entry-level professional) is responsible for executing essential respiratory care procedures for acute or critically ill patients across neonatal, pediatric, or adult demographics. This role requires the ability to work autonomously as well as collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team. Responsibilities include initiating and sustaining appropriate therapies, including life support techniques and equipment, while delivering preventive, supportive, and corrective interventions related to the respiratory system in designated patient care areas, adhering to established hospital and departmental protocols, regulations, and standards. The role demands proficiency in clinical skills and the ability to engage effectively with staff, patients, and families of diverse ages. Active participation in exemplary customer service and maintaining respectful relationships is essential. Compliance with AdventHealth’s Corporate Compliance Plan and all applicable local, state, and federal regulations is mandatory.

Value You Bring to the Team:

· Actively proposes process enhancement initiatives. Supports the hospital and department’s mission, objectives, and performance metrics. Consistently practices standard precautions and upholds safety regulations as per hospital policies.

· Responds promptly to all Code Blue emergencies, delivering CPR in accordance with American Heart Association guidelines and undertaking additional assigned duties.

· Utilizes patient assessment skills, protocols, and interdisciplinary collaboration to evaluate therapy effectiveness efficiently, making necessary recommendations per departmental protocols.

· Conducts arterial blood gas analysis and co-oximetry, performing quality control as required. Sets up and monitors oximetry, apnea, TC, and ETCO2 as ordered by physicians.

· Initiates, manages, transports, and monitors mechanical ventilators, including basic conventional ventilation modes, following established policies and procedures.

Qualifications:

Required Expertise and Experience:

· Graduation from an AMA accredited program in Respiratory Therapy is essential. An Associate's degree (AAS or AS) is required.

· Current Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential is mandatory.

· BLS and ACLS certifications are required.

· Recent graduates with up to two years of acute care experience are preferred.

· Active Florida State License as an RRT/Registered Respiratory Therapist is required.

· Current RRT credential from the NBRC is necessary.
