Job Summary

PeaceHealth is seeking a highly skilled and organized individual to fill the role of Unit Coordinator - Operating Room. This position is responsible for providing administrative support to the operating room team, ensuring the smooth operation of the unit, and maintaining accurate records.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare and maintain patient and operational records, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
  • Perform general secretarial and clerical duties, including data entry, filing, and correspondence.
  • Act as a liaison between patients, visitors, and caregivers, facilitating communication and resolving concerns.
  • Coordinate unit supplies and equipment, ensuring adequate stock levels and timely ordering.
  • Manage multiple phone calls and threads of communication, providing excellent customer service.
  • Provide clerical support for transcription and medical records maintenance.
  • Orient patients and visitors to the room, unit, and hospital environment, ensuring a positive experience.
Requirements
  • Preferred: Medical terminology and completion of unit secretary/ward clerk course.
  • Preferred: Accredited secondary education program in Hospitality Management.
  • Experience in a medical-related environment or completion of a course for unit secretaries.
  • Computerized health records software experience.
  • Certified Administrative Professional (CAP) certification.
Working Conditions

The Unit Coordinator - Operating Room will work in a fast-paced environment, requiring excellent organizational and communication skills. The position involves frequent sitting, standing, and walking, as well as occasional lifting of up to 20 pounds. The individual must be able to work in a noisy environment and be exposed to biohazard, body fluids, and airborne particles.
