The Role
The City of Rohnert Park is in search of a skilled Operations Manager to lead its Public Works Department within the General Services Division. This role entails the management and upkeep of the City’s parks, roadways, stormwater systems, recreational facilities, and the internal service operations of municipal buildings and fleet management as designated.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee the operational and maintenance activities for public infrastructure.
- Coordinate with various divisions and departments to ensure efficient service delivery.
- Participate in the development and execution of operational and capital budgets.
- Ensure compliance with environmental regulations and mandates.
- Provide comprehensive support to the Director of Public Works and Community Services.
Ideal Candidate:
The successful candidate will demonstrate exceptional communication abilities, a strong commitment to customer service, and possess a minimum of four years of progressively responsible experience in public works general services, including three years in a supervisory capacity. A bachelor’s degree in environmental sciences, public administration, business administration, construction management, or a related field is preferred.
Qualifications:
Applicants should have a combination of education and experience that provides the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities.
Licenses and Certifications:
- Valid California Driver's License.
- Grade I Water Distribution Operator Certificate (desirable).
- Grade I Water Treatment Plant Operator Certificate (desirable).
Knowledge and Skills:
Candidates should be familiar with principles of employee supervision, project management, budgeting, and public works operations. Strong analytical skills and the ability to communicate effectively with diverse stakeholders are essential.
Work Environment:
This position primarily involves office work, with occasional field visits. The incumbent may encounter various environmental conditions and must be able to lift and carry materials as necessary.
