Role Summary:

The Sleep Study Technician is responsible for conducting overnight sleep assessments for both pediatric and adult patients. Key responsibilities include:

  • Setting up and calibrating sleep study equipment.
  • Preparing patients for sleep studies, ensuring comfort and understanding of the process.
  • Monitoring patients throughout the night to collect accurate data.
  • Adhering to hospital protocols regarding safety, infection control, and quality assurance.
  • Performing additional duties as required.

Qualifications:
  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Certifications: CPR certification from the American Heart Association (AHA) is mandatory, or candidates must complete a CPR course to obtain certification within the probationary period. Continuous maintenance of AHA active CPR certification is expected during employment.
  • Skills and Knowledge: After completing the PSG Technician training checklist, candidates must demonstrate adequate technical knowledge and competencies to perform duties with minimal supervision.
  • Work Environment: Candidates should be prepared to work various shifts, including nights for sleep studies and days for Multiple Sleep Latency Tests (MSLTs).
  • Equipment Utilized: Proficient use of polysomnographic recording instruments, personal computers, and related accessories is essential.
  • Preferred Education: Additional coursework in biological sciences is advantageous.
  • Preferred Experience: Previous experience in healthcare settings is beneficial.
