Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Finance Technician I to join our team at the City of Sherwood, OR. As a key member of our Finance Department, you will be responsible for performing a variety of moderately complex duties to contribute to the efficient operation of our financial operations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Process and track incoming financial data, reports, deadlines, and other information to ensure accurate and timely processing in our automated accounting systems.
  • Track financial reporting deadlines and public disclosure notice requirements.
  • Support audit and budget processes.
  • Assist in the preparation of annual financial and budgetary reports.
  • Routine processing of Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable.
  • Prepare consolidated weekly banking deposit.
  • Maintain credit card process, posting transactions to the General Ledger, reconciling receipts to statements and card administration.
  • Monitor unclaimed property, following state regulations and adhering to reporting requirements.
Requirements
  • Knowledge of accounting practices and bookkeeping, and secretarial practices.
  • Advanced knowledge of office practices and procedures, business English, word processing and spreadsheet software, clerical practices, research methods, report composition and preparation techniques, etc.
  • Ability to operate standard office equipment.
  • Equivalent to high school education and five or more years of progressively responsible administrative support experience, or any satisfactory combination of experience and training which demonstrates the knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the above duties.
Working Conditions

Usual office working conditions. The noise level in the work area is typical of most office environments with telephones, personal interruptions, and background noises.
