About the Job

We're looking for a highly skilled AI Model Developer Specialist to join our team at Orbis Operations in Reston, Virginia. As a critical member of our team, you'll work closely with government clients to leverage Large Language Models (LLMs) in mission-critical applications.

Responsibilities
  1. Leverage LLMs in Government Settings: Design and implement Large Language Models (LLMs) to solve complex problems in government settings, ensuring alignment with mission objectives.
  2. Collaborate with Cross-Functional Teams: Work with data engineers, software developers, and government stakeholders to understand requirements and develop tailored LLM solutions.
  3. Data Preprocessing and Model Training: Perform data preprocessing, cleaning, and transformation to support LLM training, ensuring data quality and relevance to specific government applications.
  4. Model Fine-Tuning and Optimization: Conduct model fine-tuning, optimization, and validation to ensure high performance, accuracy, and efficiency in real-world scenarios.
  5. Staying Current with AI Advancements: Stay up-to-date with the latest advancements in AI, machine learning, and natural language processing technologies, incorporating them into current projects where applicable.
  6. Presentation and Stakeholder Engagement: Present findings, model performance, and actionable insights to technical and non-technical government stakeholders.
  7. Production Environment Support: Support the deployment and monitoring of LLMs in production environments, troubleshooting and iterating models as necessary.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics, or related field.
  • 5+ years of experience as a Data Scientist, with specific expertise in training and deploying Large Language Models (LLMs).
  • Experience working with government agencies or within the public sector, understanding unique challenges and compliance requirements.
  • Proficiency in Python and machine learning libraries, such as TensorFlow or PyTorch.
  • Strong knowledge of natural language processing techniques, including transformer architectures like GPT or BERT.
  • Experience handling large datasets and optimizing models for performance and scalability.
  • Active TS/SCI clearance with polygraph.

The estimated salary for this role is $140,000 - $180,000 per year, based on the location and industry standards.
