Job Summary

The Chicago Housing Authority (CHA) is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Assistant General Counsel to join its team. As a key member of the Office of the General Counsel, the successful candidate will play a critical role in protecting the CHA's legal interests and supporting the organization's mission and goals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide legal advice and guidance to CHA departments on a wide range of matters, including policy development, contract review, and litigation support.
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures to ensure compliance with federal and state laws, as well as CHA's own policies and procedures.
  • Represent the CHA in state and federal courts, as well as in administrative hearings and other forums.
  • Collaborate with the litigation group to develop and implement strategies for resolving disputes and protecting the CHA's interests.
  • Provide research and analysis to support the development of policies and procedures, as well as to inform legal decisions.
  • Assist in the preparation of reports and other documents related to the CHA's operations and activities.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, the ideal candidate will have a Juris Doctor degree, admission to the Illinois bar, and at least five years of experience in a related field. The successful candidate will also have strong writing and communication skills, as well as the ability to work well with diverse populations and stakeholders.

What We Offer

The CHA offers a competitive salary range of $100,000 - $105,000, as well as a comprehensive benefits package. This is a full-time position with a standard work schedule of Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. or 8:30 a.m. - 5:30 p.m.
