Overview

As a Radiation Therapist at Catholic Health Initiatives, you will play a crucial role in assisting patients to regain their independence and enhance their quality of life, enabling them to engage in their daily routines safely.

Your responsibilities will include collaborating with physicians and other healthcare professionals to evaluate patients, performing scans at appropriate levels, reconstructing images as necessary, and coordinating with laser systems while accurately marking isocenters. You will also provide clear instructions to patients regarding equipment and procedures, ensuring their understanding and alleviating any anxiety they may have.

To excel in this position, flexibility and adaptability are essential. You will care for diverse patient populations presenting with various conditions, requiring you to be exceptionally organized and efficient. Each workday will involve interacting with numerous patients, necessitating thorough documentation of evaluations, treatments, and any changes in status. Most importantly, a positive, personable, and motivating demeanor is vital, as therapists inspire patients to become active participants in their recovery journey. Your upbeat and energetic approach can significantly impact patients, especially those facing long recovery paths.

Responsibilities

+ Under the direction of the physician, determine the optimal positioning of patients to ensure accessibility, practicality, and reproducibility of treatment.

+ Document set-up instructions, treatment parameters, and all procedures performed in the patient's medical record.

+ Verify that all relevant information is present on the physician's order sheet and/or treatment prescription, ensuring all necessary documentation is accurate before initiating any procedure.

+ Create customized immobilization devices to ensure patient comfort and the structural integrity of each device, while also assisting in the fabrication of other custom devices as directed by the physician, physicist, or dosimetrist.

Qualifications

+ Graduation from an accredited program in Radiation Therapy Technology or possession of Radiation Therapy Technology Certification.

+ Certification from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) (T) is required.

+ Current licensure as a Radiologic Technologist in the state of Arkansas is mandatory.

+ Previous experience in acute care settings is preferred but not essential.
