Key Responsibilities

The Automotive Technician is responsible for executing vehicle repairs and maintenance as per dealership and manufacturer standards. This role includes supervising any apprentice technicians assigned.

Core Duties:

  • Receive and process repair orders from the dispatcher.
  • Perform tasks as detailed in the repair order with precision and in line with dealership standards.
  • Diagnose vehicle malfunctions and execute necessary repairs.
  • Coordinate with the parts department to secure required components.
  • Tag and save parts for warranty jobs or customer requests.
  • Inspect vehicles for additional safety or service needs.
  • Communicate with service advisors regarding unnecessary repairs.
  • Inform service advisors promptly if repairs cannot be completed on time.
  • Document all work performed accurately.
  • Conduct road tests on vehicles when necessary or refer to a test technician, ensuring customer vehicles are not used for personal errands.
  • Oversee the work of apprentice technicians as needed.
  • Participate in factory-sponsored training sessions.
  • Stay updated on factory technical bulletins.
  • Ensure customer vehicles are maintained in a clean condition.
  • Maintain a tidy shop environment and account for all dealership-owned tools.
  • Comply with federal, state, and local regulations regarding hazardous waste disposal.
  • Adhere to all company safety policies and report any incidents to management.
Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • High Customer Satisfaction Index (CSI) is essential.
  • ASE certification or equivalent manufacturer training.
  • High school diploma or equivalent education.
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • Manual dexterity and good judgment.
  • All applicants must be authorized to work in the USA.
  • Ability to perform duties safely and effectively.
  • Must pass pre-employment screenings including background checks, motor vehicle records, drug tests, and possess a valid driver’s license.
