Position Overview

The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) plays a crucial role in delivering quality healthcare within our organization. Adhering to the standards set forth by the Georgia Board of Nursing, the LPN is responsible for providing both direct and indirect patient care under the guidance of a Registered Nurse or Physician. This role emphasizes the importance of patient and family engagement in the healthcare process, ensuring a holistic approach to health and wellness.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare patients for their appointments by reviewing medical history and collecting essential clinical data, including vital signs.
  • Address care gaps and complete necessary documentation during patient visits.
  • Set up examination rooms and assist healthcare practitioners during procedures.
  • Implement nursing interventions and document patient responses in accordance with established protocols.
  • Participate in emergency response efforts as directed by healthcare professionals.
  • Provide patient education and distribute preparatory materials for diagnostic tests.
  • Coordinate patient appointments for laboratory tests, imaging, or specialist consultations as needed.
  • Manage electronic communications related to patient inquiries and requests within the scope of practice.
  • Engage in quality improvement initiatives and departmental activities to enhance patient care.
  • Facilitate collaboration among patients, families, and healthcare teams to ensure effective care coordination.
  • Address and resolve patient concerns in a timely manner.
  • Assist in training new staff members on departmental policies and procedures.
  • Supervise unlicensed personnel in the delivery of patient care services.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Education: Graduate of an accredited nursing program (LPN/LVN).
  • Licensure: Must possess a valid Practical Nurse License in Georgia at the time of hire.
  • Certification: Basic Life Support certification from the American Heart Association is required upon hire.
Additional Information

  • Completion of a Customer Service Assessment is required.
Preferred Experience

  • At least six months of experience in a healthcare setting is preferred.
  • Demonstrated customer service skills as evidenced by assessment results.
