Job Title: Open Faculty Search - Comparative/Laboratory Animal Pathology

The Department of Veterinary Biosciences in the College of Veterinary Medicine at The Ohio State University is seeking a clinical-track faculty member at the Assistant or Associate Professor level in Comparative/Laboratory Animal Pathology.

Position Overview

The successful candidate will provide pathology expertise and support for investigator-initiated research with an emphasis on preclinical toxicity/efficacy studies and the phenotypic characterization of genetically modified mice to researchers utilizing animal models. The candidate will also be actively involved in training of veterinary students and veterinary pathology residents in the OSU-CVM combined pathology residency/Ph.D. program.

Responsibilities and Expectations
  • Pathology support and digital image analysis for clients of the CPDISR, including evaluation, photomicrography, and scoring of tissue samples
  • Participation in collaborative research projects and applications submitted to external funding agencies by CPDISR clients
  • Project consultation and guidance for design of translational animal model studies
  • Grant and manuscript assistance and support for pathology results reporting in publications
Requirements
  • DVM or equivalent from an AVMA-accredited or equivalent institution
  • Board-certification by or board-eligibility for the American or European College of Veterinary Pathology
Desirable Qualifications
  • PhD
  • Demonstrated background in pathobiology of laboratory animals
  • Demonstrated expertise and support for investigator-initiated research
  • Experience in digital image analysis
  • Experience in, or knowledge to assist in, the development of new analytical approaches
  • Evidence of collaboration and/or Co-PI on research grants
  • Scholarly track-record consistent with rank
  • Experience in the classroom and laboratory teaching of veterinary students
  • Experience in the training of anatomic and/or clinical pathology residents
  • Evidence of mentoring (e.g. students, trainees, staff, peer)
  • Evidence of supporting a culture of collegiality and academic citizenship
