Family of Kidz is a specialized education services provider in Garden City, NY, dedicated to supporting children with special needs from birth to adulthood.


We are seeking a highly qualified Deaf Education Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our staff, you will work closely with our team of professionals to provide individualized support to students who are deaf or hard of hearing.


The ideal candidate will have a strong background in special education, with a focus on supporting students with hearing impairments. You will be responsible for conducting initial and ongoing assessments, developing and implementing individualized education plans, and providing instruction and support to students in the development and maintenance of skills specified in their IEPs.


In addition to your teaching responsibilities, you will also be expected to communicate effectively with lead supervisors and school teams, maintain accurate attendance records, and submit electronic billing on a daily basis. You will also be required to attend professional development trainings to maintain best practices and continue your personal development.


We offer a competitive salary of $60 per session, with various cases throughout Nassau County available. Flexible scheduling is also available to accommodate your needs.

Responsibilities:



  • Conduct initial and ongoing assessments for deaf and hard of hearing students
  • Develop and implement individualized education plans
  • Provide instruction and support to students in the development and maintenance of skills specified in their IEPs
  • Communicate effectively with lead supervisors and school teams
  • Maintain accurate attendance records and submit electronic billing on a daily basis
  • Attend professional development trainings to maintain best practices and continue personal development
  • Maintain professionalism with parents, teachers, and other professionals
  • Attend CPSE meetings

Requirements:



  • NYS Certification Teacher of Deaf and Hard of Hearing
  • Minimum of 1 year experience working in a setting focusing on supporting children and their families (preferred)
  • Bilingual (plus)
