Position Overview

The Computed Tomography Technologist is responsible for delivering exceptional patient care in alignment with departmental and organizational protocols to ensure the safety and well-being of patients. This role involves completing essential tasks to promote efficient and consistent operations within the department. The technologist must adhere to radiation safety measures for patients, colleagues, and themselves, following established protocols and regulatory standards. Maintaining a clean and safe environment for both patients and staff is crucial. This position also includes providing clinical services in accordance with radiology practice standards and serving as a resource for radiography students and fellow technologists to facilitate optimal departmental performance.

Work Schedule: Full Time

Working Hours: Friday to Sunday, 7:00 AM - 7:00 PM

Key Responsibilities
  • Exhibits a comprehensive understanding of intravenous lines, heparin locks, and central line applications as they relate to computed tomography, as demonstrated through supervisor and peer evaluations.
  • Completes necessary tasks to maintain effective and consistent departmental functions.
  • Accurately identifies patients and their records, ensuring a high level of precision, as evidenced by the absence of mislabeled films, images, and electronic medical records.
  • Monitors patient flow in accordance with departmental protocols, identifying and rectifying errors promptly, as reflected in electronic medical records and radiology information systems.
  • Engages in departmental and hospital performance improvement initiatives, in-services, and meetings, as indicated by attendance records.
Qualifications:
  • Graduate of an accredited radiography program.
  • Certification by ARRT as a Radiologic Technologist is required. State licensure is necessary for all non-hospital licensed centers, but not required for work at an Inova Hospital.
  • CT Certification must be obtained within one year of accepting the position.
  • Preferred prior experience as a Diagnostic Radiologic Technologist and/or Computed Tomography Technologist in a healthcare setting. Current hospital experience as a CT Technologist is essential.
  • Basic Life Support certification is required.
