Live Poultry Handler

Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Live Poultry Handler to join our team at Case Farms, LLC. As a Live Poultry Handler, you will be responsible for processing poultry products in a live production area, ensuring the highest level of animal welfare and safety standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Hang live birds on shackles from the conveyor belt, adhering to animal welfare policies and guidelines.
  • Handle birds gently and ensure their legs are secured within shackles.
  • Grasp chickens from the moving conveyor belt, hang them by both feet onto a moving shackle line, and then hang them with the breast out and pull them down into the shackles.
  • Adhere to all safety requirements, including PPE, preventing and reporting unsafe acts and conditions, Lockout-Tag out procedures, and Process Safety Management related matters.
  • Maintain a clean and safe working environment.
  • Participate in Company and department safety programs.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • At least 18 years of age.
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States.
  • Experience in manufacturing or shipping environments preferred but not required.
  • Ability to multitask and work quickly.
  • Ability to work with others in a close environment.
  • Demonstrate excellent attendance and punctuality.

Physical Requirements:

  • Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions, if applicable.
  • Exposure to wet and moist floors with metal and plastic grating surfaces.
  • Exposure to temperatures below 0 degrees Fahrenheit with both ambient and 100% humidity.
  • May handle product below 0 degrees to 50 degrees Fahrenheit.
  • May be exposed to noise ranges of 50 db. to 110 db.
  • Must wear and use protective and safety equipment required for the job as directed by the Company.
  • Must handle the weight of 8 to 10 lbs. repetitively, occasionally lifting, pushing, or pulling 40 to 70 lbs.
  • Exposure to chemicals used in the poultry processing facility.
  • Ability to work in a stationary position, on feet for the entire shift.
  • Ability to work with heavy machinery for the duration of the shift.
  • Ability to climb steps and to access and egress through the production environment.
