Position Overview:
Role: Research Scientist I
Summary: As a prominent entity in the realm of pharmaceutical excipients and innovative drug delivery systems, Croda is dedicated to pioneering advancements in both human and veterinary applications. Key Responsibilities:
Research Scientists are tasked with conducting independent investigations in the areas of lipid synthesis, natural product extraction, and product purification. The essential duties include:
1. Setting up and executing synthetic reactions
2. Performing natural product extractions
3. Utilizing column chromatography and crystallization techniques
4. Conducting rotary evaporation and lyophilization
5. Engaging in literature reviews and research planning
6. Analyzing research outcomes and maintaining electronic notebooks.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Overseeing the maintenance of laboratory equipment and chemical reagents
- Ensuring cleanliness and organization of the workspace.
Supervisory Duties:
- Guiding research associates and assistants assigned to the team.
Qualifications:
- A degree in organic chemistry or equivalent experience of 5 years in a research associate capacity.
Skills Required:
- Proficiency in synthetic route design and execution
- Familiarity with analytical techniques such as NMR, MS, HPLC, GPC, GC, and TLC.
Technical Proficiencies:
- Competence in software applications including Windows, Office, ChemDraw, SciFinder, and electronic notebook systems.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and endure extended periods of standing.
Work Environment:
- Engaged in a chemistry research and manufacturing laboratory setting.
