Position Summary: This role is situated within the Blue Origin Operations team, which encompasses Integrated Supply Chain, Facilities, and Security. The focus is on Manufacturing and Supply Chain support across all operational facilities.
As a vital member of a dedicated and skilled team, you will play a key role in the assembly and production of Rocket Engine components through the Casting operation. Your expertise will contribute to enhancements in the design, maintenance, and refurbishment of rocket engine components. Throughout the manufacturing process, you will be tasked with identifying, developing, and implementing strategies to improve quality, reduce costs, and optimize production schedules.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare plastic patterns for metal casting utilizing wax, adhesives, and standard hand tools.
- Conduct quality tests on completed patterns prior to shell application.
- Provide insights and feedback on digital instructions to enhance task completion, emphasizing continuous improvement.
- Assist in maintaining tooling and equipment inventory.
- Safely handle hazardous materials and systems, adhering to proper safety protocols.
- Identify and implement new manufacturing techniques to enhance quality and efficiency.
- Support DFMEA and PFMEA studies to reinforce the design-build-test feedback loop.
- Contribute to the development of manufacturing work instructions covering inspection, fabrication, assembly, testing, integration, and refurbishment processes.
- Identify non-conformances and assist in corrective action deployment.
- Manage hardware configuration and maintain records throughout the build and testing phases.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
- At least 1 year of direct manufacturing experience.
- Ability to read and comprehend specifications and detailed work instructions.
- Basic computer proficiency.
- Effective communication skills across all organizational levels.
- Must be a U.S. citizen, permanent resident, or legally admitted refugee/asylee.
- Physical capabilities: Ability to climb ladders, lift, and carry up to 50 lbs for limited durations.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with detailed finishing of highly cosmetic surfaces.
- 1+ years of experience in an aerospace manufacturing setting.
