Position Overview

This role involves providing specialized expertise in sensor systems throughout the entire acquisition lifecycle, from initial concept to the sustainment of radar systems for the US Navy (USN) and US Marine Corps (USMC). The systems under our purview include Dual Band Radar (DBR), Ground Air Task Oriented Radar (G/ATOR), AN/SPY-1, AN/SPY-6, Enhanced Radar Data Display System (ERDDS), Enhanced Coherent Data Collection System (ECDCS), Littoral Combat Ship (LCS), among others.
Key Responsibilities

Primary Duties:

  • Assist in the formulation and implementation of systems engineering strategies from requirements gathering to design validation. Develop and execute engineering plans in line with approved project acquisition strategies:
  • Conduct technical analyses and provide systems engineering support to enhance architecture design, interoperability, specification development, solution implementation, and project sustainment;
  • Create test and evaluation documentation, including laboratory testing protocols, technology assessment reports, usability engineering documents, and laboratory testing of software/hardware prototypes;
  • Research and draft specifications for systems and subsystems, ensuring compliance, completeness, and consistency of component and interface requirements with current and future system needs, information architectures, and systems.
  • Engage in signal processing activities, focusing on waveform management, clutter control, and electronic protection development; ensure electronic compatibility within systems; and support data collection and analysis to evaluate the effectiveness of signal processing systems.

Work Environment:

Responsibilities may be performed in government or contractor office settings, laboratories, or in the field supporting USN/USMC operations. This may involve working on naval vessels, piers, dry docks, or other non-office environments as necessary.

Physical Requirements:

Travel to USN piers, ships, and dry docks may be required, along with travel between local contractor and government facilities.

Qualifications

Education / Certifications:

Candidates must meet one or more of the following criteria:

  • A Bachelor's degree in engineering from an ABET-accredited program in Mechanical, Electrical, Computer, or Electronics Engineering.
  • A Bachelor's degree in Mathematics, Computer Science, or Physics from an accredited institution.
  • A Master's degree in one of the aforementioned fields from an accredited institution.
  • A Ph.D. in one of the aforementioned fields from an accredited institution.

Experience / Skills:

General Sensor Engineering Experience:

Experience is defined as professional experience obtained post-degree:

  • At least four (4) years with a Bachelor's degree
  • At least two (2) years with a Master's degree

Specialized Experience:

Proven experience and capability to perform intricate calculations and possess knowledge of practices and principles essential for evaluating advanced sensor systems concepts, specifications, and system integration.
