About the RoleThis position works out of our Sturgis, MI location in the Abbott Nutrition division. Our Nutrition business develops science-based nutrition products for people of all ages, from helping babies and children grow to keeping adult bodies strong and active.
Key Responsibilities- Assists in development, planning, and execution of all plant-related facility engineering activities, including mechanical, plumbing, and electrical components supporting the Energy Center and utilities distribution throughout the site.
- Develops and gains a deep understanding of water treatment systems, energy distribution, heat exchangers, HVAC, and infrastructure.
- Analyzes system failures to determine source and cause.
- Participates in evaluating system conditions and developing long-term obsolescence and sustainability plans.
- Applies working knowledge of engineering disciplines and independently conceives and develops approaches to problem-solving that requires advanced technical knowledge.
- Plans and conducts small to medium-sized projects, including detailed project planning/monitoring, budgeting, project reviews, implementation, validation, and release to production.
- B.S. in Engineering with a preference for a Degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Chemical Engineering.
- Experience with engineering responsibility in a regulated industry, with preference being for food, pharmaceuticals, medical devices, cosmetics, etc.
- Project planning experience.
- Demonstrated leadership skills in a plant facilities maintenance environment.
- Knowledge of project planning tools and experience using them.
- Experience working with and implementing Continuous Improvement tools & methodologies.
