Safety and Security Officer Job Overview

As a Safety and Security Officer, your primary responsibility will be to ensure a secure and safe atmosphere for all individuals, including residents, visitors, and staff members. You will play a crucial role in safeguarding community assets and overseeing the presence of personnel and contractors on the premises. Your key responsibilities will encompass:

  • Conducting regular patrols both inside and outside facilities to maintain security
  • Responding promptly to fire alarms and emergency situations
  • Fostering positive interactions with residents, visitors, and staff
  • Addressing specific security requirements as they arise
  • Meeting service expectations and encouraging ongoing enhancements
  • Adhering to infection control protocols and upholding confidentiality
  • Ensuring compliance with safety regulations and reporting hazardous conditions
  • Documenting incidents within the community through written reports
  • Maintaining clear access to entrances and walkways for safe navigation
  • Participating in training sessions and assisting with evacuations when necessary

In addition to these duties, you may also engage in minor maintenance tasks, report incidents without delay, and take part in quality assurance initiatives. To be eligible for this role, candidates should possess a high school diploma or equivalent, a minimum of one year of experience in security, and training in first response and first aid. The physical demands of the position include light to moderate physical activity, exposure to various weather conditions, the ability to lift up to 50 pounds, and walking for the majority of the workday.
