About the Job

As a Bus Driver at Saginaw ISD, you will play a vital role in ensuring the safe transportation of special education students. This position requires a strong commitment to safety and customer service.

Responsibilities

Some key responsibilities of this role include:

  • Maintaining a safe environment on the bus, adhering to all laws governing vehicle operation, and ensuring the well-being of passengers
  • Completing daily pre-trip inspections, reporting needed repairs, and attending training sessions as directed by the Supervisor of Transportation
  • Working with the bus assistant and district employees to meet individual medical, safety, and behavioral needs of students being transported
  • Securing wheelchairs and child restraint systems, maintaining confidentiality, and demonstrating a positive attitude when interacting with students, parents, community members, and staff

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A high school diploma or equivalent
  • An appropriate commercial driver's license and bus driver's certification
  • An excellent driving record and prior experience working with children, preferably those with special needs
  • Good interpersonal relationship skills, oral and written communication skills, and the ability to lift a minimum of 75 pounds
  • Basic computer keyboarding skills and willingness to receive additional training to improve job skills
