Position Overview:

The Project Engineer is responsible for the design, specification, and commissioning of new and upgraded biopharmaceutical process and clean utility equipment. This role provides engineering support and leads investigations into deviations related to equipment and manufacturing processes. As a Project Engineer, you will assist the Project Manager in achieving or surpassing project financial targets, execution plans, and customer satisfaction objectives. Daily responsibilities include job costing, estimating, billing, labor management, customer relationship enhancement, scheduling, and procurement tasks.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate effectively within a professional, team-oriented office environment to meet customer-focused deadlines.
  • Regularly update assigned Project Manager(s), team members, and departmental supervisors on project workload status and requirements.
  • Monitor project expenditures and identify any changes in scope that may impact costs.
  • Act as the primary technical contact for customers regarding assigned projects.
  • Prepare and maintain the 'Project Scope Report'.
  • Assist Project Manager with responsibilities as needed, particularly in their absence.
  • Work towards achieving departmental goals, objectives, and performance improvement initiatives.
  • Review and analyze customer specifications, requirements, and proposal documents.
  • Ensure contract files are maintained according to company standards.
  • Support design engineers in meeting customer expectations for equipment specifications.
  • Contribute to the creation and approval of essential engineering and design documentation.
  • Conduct necessary calculations for equipment verification and sizing.
  • Prepare specifications and equipment data sheets.
  • Participate in design verification activities and model reviews.
  • Review and approve Engineering Change Notices (ECNs) for accuracy before release.
  • Collaborate with automation and electrical engineering teams on customer-driven equipment functionalities.
  • Engage with automation resources to review customer requirements and develop related documentation.
  • Support manufacturing and quality teams in fabricating and qualifying engineering deliverables.
  • Serve as the technical contact for projects under fabrication and quality verification.
  • Oversee and/or conduct Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) and Site Acceptance Testing (SAT) as required.
  • Develop test plans and coordinate customer approvals.
  • Assist in developing engineering standards and procedures for departmental review.
  • Contribute to organizational efforts aimed at enhancing performance and reducing operational costs.
  • Travel to customer sites as necessary.
  • Perform additional tasks as assigned.
  • Actively identify and promote Continuous Improvement (CI) opportunities.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in an Engineering discipline (Mechanical, Biological, Chemical, or equivalent experience).
  • A minimum of three years of post-graduate engineering experience in a related field is preferred.
  • Five years of post-graduate engineering experience in the BioPharm or piping systems market is highly desirable.
  • Two years of experience in automation and control systems engineering related to bioprocesses is preferred.
  • Familiarity with Continuous Improvement (CI) methodologies is a plus.
  • Experience with Lean/Six Sigma practices is advantageous.
