Job Summary

The Commonwealth of Virginia is seeking a skilled Food Preparation Worker to join our team at the Virginia Tech Child Development Center. As a key member of our nutrition services team, you will be responsible for planning, preparing, and serving nutritious meals and snacks to our students.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and prepare healthy meals and snacks for students, taking into account dietary restrictions and allergies
  • Shop for groceries and supplies as needed to maintain a well-stocked kitchen
  • Ensure the kitchen and dining area are clean and sanitized at all times
  • Perform laundry duties and maintain a clean laundry area
  • Collaborate with the nutrition services team to ensure seamless meal service

Requirements

  • Some demonstrated knowledge of food preparation and cooking
  • Ability to follow instructions and maintain a safe and clean work environment
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to safely move and handle up to 50 pounds
