Job Overview

The Facilities Maintenance Specialist position is dedicated to providing exceptional service through the efficient execution of assigned work orders. This role encompasses a variety of tasks including carpentry, masonry, drywall installation, painting, plumbing, mechanical system repairs, electrical work, office relocations, event setups, mechanical inspections, and collaboration with subcontractors.

Key Responsibilities

  • Diagnose and resolve minor HVAC and exhaust system problems
  • Identify and fix minor plumbing issues, including toilet unclogging
  • Handle minor electrical repairs, such as changing lamps and ballasts
  • Reassemble and modify office furniture and install requested accessories
  • Conduct light carpentry and welding/fabrication tasks to meet customer needs
  • Prepare rooms for events and organizational activities
  • Perform light masonry work as required for minor projects
  • Execute drywall repairs, including mudding, taping, and finishing
  • Carry out painting tasks for larger areas and touch-ups as necessary
  • Complete various monthly preventative maintenance tasks, including safety inspections
  • Transport materials and supplies across the facility as directed
  • Oversee subcontractors engaged in assigned tasks

Responsibilities may be adjusted as needed.

Essential Qualifications:

Candidates must demonstrate skills in general carpentry, plumbing, electrical work, and HVAC systems.

  • Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and knowledge of mechanical equipment
  • Enjoyment in daily customer interactions
  • Good organizational skills are essential
  • Experience with CMMS or SAP is highly preferred
  • High sense of urgency combined with attention to detail
  • Ability to work effectively in a team setting
  • Prior experience in building maintenance is required
  • Capability to perform all listed job duties

Work Environment:

The role is primarily set in a general office environment, with exposure to:

  • Shop environments
  • Sports complex settings
  • Potential boiler operation areas
  • Outdoor environments
  • University settings

Minimum Requirements:

Candidates must possess skills in general carpentry, plumbing, electrical work, and HVAC systems.

Experience with CMMS or SAP is strongly preferred.

Proficiency in computer applications such as Outlook, Excel, and Word is necessary.

EPA licensing is a plus.

Flexibility to work various shifts as required.

Additional duties may be assigned as necessary.
