Job Overview:
The Level II Competent Registered Nurse is proficient in delivering patient care. The Level II Registered Nurse is accountable for providing comprehensive, continuous, and patient-focused care for a designated group of patients.
Work Schedule:
No nights, weekends, or holidays required.
Practice Standards for a Level II Registered Nurse:
In accordance with the MWHC Practice Standards, a Level II Registered Nurse is expected to excel in the following areas:

- New Knowledge, Innovations, and Improvement Practice Standards
Key Responsibilities:
- Direct and coordinate nursing care, overseeing both licensed and unlicensed personnel in assigned tasks, utilizing the nursing process and interdisciplinary teamwork to achieve optimal patient outcomes.
- Engage patients, families, and healthcare team members in care processes, including education and discharge planning.
- Communicate and coordinate care plans and relevant information with other healthcare professionals.
- Assist leadership in establishing care excellence standards and participate in enhancing patient care services.
- Contribute to and integrate performance improvement initiatives into care delivery and engage in quality enhancement activities.
- Participate in the orientation of new staff members, both permanent and temporary.
- Serve as a resource for hospital and departmental policies and procedures for nursing staff and other team members.
- Engage in daily operational activities to ensure a safe environment for patients and staff.
- Provide feedback to the Nurse Manager regarding unit requirements.
- Participate in committees focused on nursing and hospital policy formulation.
- Conduct Pre-Admission Testing Nursing Assessments, ensuring accuracy in patient identification and procedure verification.
- Collect and process specimens, ensuring adherence to laboratory standards and policies.
- Perform electrocardiograms and maintain an effective inventory of necessary supplies.
- Undertake additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Graduate from an accredited nursing program with experience as a Registered Nurse.
- Valid RN License from Virginia or a reciprocal compact state is required.
- A BSN is not mandatory for RNs assigned to FASC.
- AHA BLS Provider CPR certification is required upon hire.
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in an OR RN role or equivalent is required.
