Job Summary

Millard Lumber, Inc. is seeking a skilled CDL Driver to join our team. As a CDL Driver, you will be responsible for safely operating a semi-trailer or trailer with two or more axles, delivering and picking up lumber products from and to project areas.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operate Vehicles Safely: Operate vehicles with a semi-trailer or pull trailer with two or more axles with a mounted forklift, ensuring safe delivery of various bulky and/or heavy lumber products in a timely manner in accordance with DOT regulations and damage-free.
  • Deliver Products: Demonstrate decision driving skills by safely delivering various bulky and/or heavy lumber products in a timely manner in accordance with DOT regulations and damage-free.
  • Adhere to Deliveries and Credits: Adhering to assigned deliveries/credits and check on load related documentation for completeness and accuracy.
  • Obtain Receipts and Signatures: Obtain receipts or signatures for delivered goods.
  • Maintain Driver Forms and Log: Maintain driver forms and log (ELD) according to DOT regulations.
  • Address Customer Issues: Address and resolve customer issues as appropriate and informs dispatch of any outstanding issues related to the customer deliveries.
  • Check Vehicle: Check vehicle to ensure mechanical, safety and emergency equipment is in good working order.
  • Report Vehicle Defects: Report vehicle defects, accidents, traffic violations or damage to the vehicle.
Requirements
  • Education and Experience: High School Diploma or GED, minimum of 1-year driving and delivery experience, forklift experience, and Electronic Logging Devices (ELD) experience a plus.
  • DOT Certification and CDL License: Must have current DOT certification and valid, unrestricted Class A (CDL) license.
  • Physical and Mental Demands: Must pass pre-employment drug screen and physical, work morning/evening hours during the week, required weekends and overtime, and maintain regular attendance.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Communication and Navigation: Verbal & Written Communication skills and map/GPS reading abilities.
  • Driving and Navigation: Maneuver large vehicles on highways, inter-city and traffic routes.
  • Flexibility and Adaptability: Ability to comply to daily changes to deliveries/schedules with a positive attitude.
  • Customer Service and Teamwork: Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills, ability to work as an individual and as a team to meet delivery goals.
Working Conditions and Physical Requirements
  • Work Environment: Work is performed within jobsite and yard environment subject to temperature variations, hazardous chemicals, mechanical parts, increased noise levels and dust.
  • Physical Demands: Perform activities that require considerable use of your arms and legs and moving your whole body, such as lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling of materials.
