Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Recreation Assistant PT to join our team at the City of Clovis, NM. As a Recreation Assistant PT, you will be responsible for assisting in the oversight of activities, facilities, and patrons of the recreation center.

Key Responsibilities
  • Issue equipment and provide routine instruction in the use of equipment and the facility.
  • Set-up and take-down recreational equipment.
  • Enforce recreation center rules, regulations, and safety policies among patrons, to prevent injuries and damage to recreation areas and equipment.
  • Instruct operation of scoring devices for basketball, volleyball, and other court events.
  • Answer inquiries concerning programs and use of the facility.
  • Promptly report lost, stolen, or damaged equipment to the Recreation Center Administrator.
  • Defuse and resolve disagreements and conflicts between patrons.
  • Perform recreation center opening and closing duties.
  • Keep restrooms, gymnasiums, multi-purpose room, lobby, and weight room clean and orderly.
  • Replenish supplies as needed.
  • Assist and participate in the execution of short and long-range plans.
  • Ensure effective and efficient use of budgeted funds, personnel, materials, facilities, and time.
Requirements
  • Six (6) months experience providing recreational or cultural programs and activities, or an equivalent combination of education and experience that would likely produce the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Municipal organization operations, policies, and procedures.
  • Tools, equipment, materials, and methods used in recreation operations and facilities.
  • Various games and recreational activities.
  • Basic methods of facilities cleaning and maintenance.
Physical Requirements
  • Stand or sit for prolonged periods of time.
  • Occasionally stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, reach, and twist.
  • Lift, carry, push, and/or pull light to moderate amounts of weight.
  • Use repetitive hand movements, fine coordination, and manual dexterity which permits the employee to operate standard office equipment, computer systems, and set up various sports equipment and games.
  • Sufficient clarity of speech and hearing to permit the employee to discern verbal instructions, use a phone, and communicate with others.
  • Sufficient visual acuity which permits the employee to comprehend written work instructions and review, evaluate, and prepare a variety of written materials.
Working Conditions
  • Work typically performed in a standard office and recreational center setting.
  • Regular attendance is an essential function of this job to ensure continuity of services.
  • Frequent work beyond normal business hours.
  • Position is subject to drug testing in accordance with applicable State and Federal regulations and City of Clovis policies.
