Job Summary

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Patient Services Assistant to join our team at Hudson Headwaters Health Network.

This role is responsible for providing exceptional patient care and administrative support to our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills, a strong work ethic, and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Greets patients and visitors promptly and professionally, ensuring a positive first impression of our organization.
  • Assists with incoming and outgoing calls, faxes, and correspondence, and forwards them to the appropriate team member.
  • Identifies emergency situations and takes appropriate actions to ensure patient safety.
  • Schedules and reschedules patient appointments, prioritizing based on provider availability and patient needs.
  • Collects copays, co-insurance, and self-pay balances, and offers patients the sliding fee program.
  • Checks patients out, including scheduling follow-up appointments and processing referrals.
  • Reconciles payment batch amounts daily and reports any discrepancies to the supervisor.
  • Performs opening and closing procedures in accordance with policy and procedure.
  • Provides exceptional customer service to internal and external customers.
  • Protects patient confidentiality and adheres to HIPAA guidelines.
  • Attends training and meetings as required.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Computer training and/or medical terminology training preferred.
  • Minimum of one year of work experience in a medical office setting or equivalent training/education required.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize workload.
  • Experience working with a diverse population required.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office required.
  • Experience with EMR and knowledge of billing a plus.

The pay rate for this position is $19.00/hour.
