Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Phlebotomy Technician to join our team in the Inpatient Phlebotomy Services department at WellSpan Health. As a Phlebotomy Technician, you will be responsible for collecting blood samples from patients in a hospital setting. This is a part-time position working night shifts, with a schedule of 48 hours biweekly.

Responsibilities
  • Collect blood samples from patients in a hospital setting
  • Operate point of care laboratory instruments
  • Perform quality control and instrument check procedures
  • Transcribe orders and receive specimens into the laboratory
  • Process specimens, deliver specimens to testing locations, store specimens for future analysis, and dispose of specimens
  • Collect and transport supplies, equipment, reports, and specimens between the laboratory and other healthcare locations
  • Enter or retrieve data from established computer files
  • Provide complete and accurate instructions to patients and other customers of the laboratory
  • Review physician orders for supporting documentation
  • Resolve billing problems and/or receive insurance updates
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Less than 1 year of relevant experience
  • Certified Phlebotomy Technician - ASCP preferred
  • Basic Life Support preferred
Working Conditions

This position requires working in a fast-paced hospital environment, with frequent exposure to blood and other bodily fluids. The ability to work independently and as part of a team is essential.
