About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Cybersecurity Detection Engineer to join our team at Marriott International. As a key member of our security operations team, you will be responsible for designing and implementing effective monitoring and alerting solutions to protect our information systems and networks from cyber threats.

In this role, you will leverage your expertise in Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) and User Entity and Behavior Analytics (UEBA) to develop and tune content that monitors critical IT infrastructure and application logged events. Your primary goal will be to detect cybersecurity and insider threats across the Marriott enterprise.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and Implement Monitoring Solutions: Design and implement effective monitoring and alerting solutions to protect our information systems and networks from cyber threats.
  • Collaborate with Cross-Functional Teams: Engage and collaborate with other security engineers and architects as needed to ensure seamless integration of security monitoring use cases.
  • Document Security Monitoring Use Cases: Document prospective security monitoring use cases with MITRE ATT&CK mappings to support decision-making and incident response efforts.
Requirements
  • Education and Experience: Bachelor's degree in Computer Sciences or related field or equivalent experience/certification; 3+ years of collective experience in Splunk SIEM (Splunk Enterprise Security) threat detection use case development, UEBA use case development for insider threat use case development, or similar.
  • Preferred Skills/Experience: Current information security certification such as Certified Information Security Manager (CISM), Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP); Offen sive and defensive security certifications such as CEH, IGAC Cyber Defense, OSCP or other related certifications; Splunk Certification, including Splunk Enterprise Security Certified Admin; Use case development experience on the Exabeam platform.
Benefits and Compensation

This is a temporary position offering a competitive hourly rate of $73.16, based on local market rates and considering the location in Bethesda, Maryland. Additionally, employees will accrue 0.0334 PTO balance for every hour worked and eligible to receive a minimum of 9 holidays annually. FLEX opportunities offer coverage for various benefits.
