Asbestos Abatement Specialist

Turner Industries Group is seeking an experienced Asbestos Abatement Specialist for a Maintenance position in Freeport, TX.

The Asbestos Abatement Specialist will be responsible for removing asbestos-containing materials (ACM) from various structures, following company operating procedures. The ideal candidate will have completed a certified asbestos removal class and possess a current certificate and state card from the division of air quality.

• Remove asbestos from ceilings, walls, beams, boilers, and other structures
• Assemble scaffolding and seal off work area
• Position mobile decontamination unit or portable showers at entrance of work area
• Position portable air evacuation and filtration system inside work area
• Softening asbestos with chemical solution
• Cutting and scraping asbestos from surfaces
• Shoveling asbestos into disposal container
• Cleaning work area of loose asbestos
• Dismantling scaffolding and temporary walkway

• One to four years of experience in specified skill (depending on mechanic level)
• Written pre-employment qualification test
• Post-offer drug/alcohol screen and physical evaluation
• Hazard Communication orientation/test
• Turner Industries Group, LLC indoctrination
• OSHA approved corrective eyewear (Z87)
• Job site orientation
• Job site safety requirements as required by the client

The Asbestos Abatement Specialist will work in an industrial construction site and/or fabrication shop environment. The ideal candidate will be able to work in a predominately outdoor climate and be exposed to extreme hot or cold weather, excessive humidity, rain, and various noise levels.
