As a Mid-Level Software Engineer, you'll work on improving the experience of USAA's full-time and contract workforce. You'll have the opportunity to leverage your full-stack skills to deliver and improve integrated solutions that provide great experiences for our employees.

Some of your key responsibilities will include:

  • Investigating and resolving complex application and system technical problems and production issues through troubleshooting techniques.
  • Continually improving operations by conducting complex systems analysis and recommending changes in policies and procedures.
  • Mentoring junior engineers and ensuring risks associated with business activities are effectively identified, measured, monitored, and controlled in accordance with risk and compliance policies and procedures.

We offer a flexible work environment that requires an individual to be in the office 4 days per week. Relocation assistance is not available for this position.

We're looking for someone with 4 years of software development experience demonstrating depth of technical understanding within a specific discipline(s)/technology(s). You should also have 2 years of experience delivering technology solutions in all phases of the software systems and application development lifecycle to include leading code/design reviews.

We're open to candidates with a Bachelor's Degree or 4 additional years of experience beyond the minimum requirement. Approved certification from CodeUp, Galvanize, VetFIT (Veterans for IT) or eFIT (Employees for IT) can also be used in lieu of a degree.

We're looking for someone with a developing level of business acumen in the areas of business operations, risk management, industry practices and emerging trends. You should also have experience supporting efforts to address production issues through troubleshooting applications and systems.
