Position Summary

Salary Range: $68,700 - $81,300

  • Recruit, oversee, and mentor hourly FSQA technicians in the execution, verification, and validation of food safety protocols, including HACCP, SSOP, and other corporate initiatives such as metal detection and allergen management.
  • Monitor operational data and promptly address issues related to processing, sanitation, and maintenance through direct involvement.
  • Effectively communicate product quality or regulatory non-conformances to FSQA and operations management without delay.
  • Empowered to place non-conforming products on FSQA hold if they fail to meet Foster Farms standards, customer expectations, or legal criteria. Collaborate with senior FSQA management to determine product disposition, including release or disposal.
  • Engage with USDA/FSIS representatives to resolve regulatory non-compliance issues and respond to information requests. Provide written and verbal communication support to the production management team for corrective and preventive actions.
  • Assist operations management in training new production staff to ensure understanding of GMPs, food safety standards, and quality expectations.
  • Contribute to the development and maintenance of current FSQA programs, adjusting them to ensure compliance with regulatory and internal standards.
  • Maintain FSQA data reporting systems, sharing trends and root-cause analyses with management for deficiency resolution and process enhancement.
  • Actively participate in FSQA or operational projects aimed at modifying, retrofitting, and improving performance from a food safety and quality perspective.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree preferred, ideally in Food Science, Meat/Animal Science, or a related scientific discipline.
  • Prior experience in food processing, food safety, and/or quality assurance programs is advantageous.
  • Familiarity with HACCP, SSOP protocols, and FSIS food safety regulations is preferred.
  • Detail-oriented with strong analytical skills; experience with Statistical Process Control is a plus.
  • Excellent writing and presentation abilities.
  • Bilingual in Spanish is beneficial, depending on the local hourly workforce.
  • Ability to independently make product disposition decisions under the guidance of FSQA management.
  • Sound judgment regarding food safety risks and product quality issues.
  • Capability to coach and develop hourly employees; previous supervisory experience is preferred.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Flexibility to work varied hours.
  • Willingness to travel for limited business-related visits or conferences.
