As a Bus Driver, you will be responsible for safely transporting students to and from school, as well as related activities, in accordance with district, state, and federal guidelines.

Responsibilities:

  • Operate a school bus on an assigned route to pick up and discharge students
  • Perform daily pre-trip inspections to ensure the bus is safe and ready for operation
  • Check and maintain the bus's oil, fuel, coolant, and other fluids at proper levels
  • Inspect the bus to ensure all necessary safety equipment is present and in working order
  • Maintain student discipline through verbal directions and reminders, in accordance with district guidelines
  • Communicate effectively with students, parents, staff, and administrators
  • Report any bus malfunctions or suspected malfunctions to the mechanic or Transportation Supervisor
  • Operate warning lights for student pick-up and discharge, as well as hazard lights at railroad crossings

Requirements:

  • Valid State of Ohio Commercial Driver's License with School Bus Driver's Endorsement
  • Ability to meet or exceed annual state required physical examination
  • Ability to pass drug and alcohol testing, as required by law and district policies
  • Good driving record, with no more than one moving violation in the past three years
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Working Conditions:

The Bus Driver will work in a fast-paced environment, with frequent exposure to weather conditions and varying temperatures. The Bus Driver must be able to climb in and out of the school bus emergency door, as well as perform emergency first aid when necessary.
